GDPR- General Data Protection Regulation comes into force in May 2018

Data protection may sound high tech to some and an issue for big organisations only.  This is not the case.   The foundations of data protection lie in the right of privacy.

The Data Protection Laws confer rights and obligations that apply to everyone.

The laws apply to paper files and records as well as electronically stored data.

The Government has published the general scheme of the Data Protection Bill 2017. This is a major step towards meeting the deadline of 25th May 2018 when the General Data Protection Regulation and the Data Protection Directive will come into force, having been adopted by the European Union in 2016.
